Garry Widdup FCA
Garry J Widdup, B. Com, FCA, FGIA, CPA is the founding Principal of the firm and possesses over 40 years experience within the industry. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (FCA), a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Registered Company Auditor, and a Registered Tax Agent.
Prior to founding Widdup Barilla, Garry had twelve years experience with Sydney-based International Chartered Accountancy firms including Price Waterhouse Coopers and BDO covering all facets of accounting, taxation and auditing
After accumulating a wealth of education and experience Garry turned down big-city partnership opportunities for a desire to establish and administer his own practice
In 1990 Garry was joined in the practice by Mr. Joseph Barilla F.C.A. and they practised together for 19 years prior to Joe’s sad and untimely passing in 2009.
Many of Garry’s clients have continued to engage his services since he commenced practice in 1982 and his clientele and business has continued to grow. His clientele is diversified and range from small to medium enterprises to some of the country’s top medical practitioners and surgeons, Australian sporting legends, leading manufacturers and landmark hotels.
Garry has been married for 42 years and is the father of three daughters. Recreationally Garry enjoys boating, fishing, snorkelling and kayaking. Being a South Sydney Rabbitohs supporter, his long term wait for a premiership win was finally rewarded in 2014 with hopefully more to follow in the next few years.
Marc Bestawros CA RCA
Marc Bestawros is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Registered Company Auditor and a SMSF specialist who has been admitted to the partnership of Widdup Barilla in 2018.
Marc has spent most of his professional career at top tier firms providing specialist taxation services to businesses ranging from small start-ups to listed groups. His experience extends across a number of industries including health, entertainment, property development and retail. Marc is a registered SMSF Auditor who is acutely aware of the difficulties in navigating the SIS Act and commercial tax laws along-side the advancements in technology surrounding the financial accounting sector.
Marc brings an energetic, passionate and professional approach to business and taxation services. Away from the desk, Marc is kept busy with an active family and a very active family kitchen. Passionate about baking he enjoys nothing more than serving up warm treats.
Leah Widdup Augusto, B Com. CPA
Leah is a qualified CPA and obtained a bachelor of Commerce (major in Accountancy) from the University of Wollongong. Her primary role within Widdup Barilla is the accounting, taxation and compliance services for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds which she has been performing at Widdup Barilla for in excess of 15 years.
