Garry J. Widdup, B. Com, FCA, FGIA, CPA, is the founding principal of Widdup Barilla and brings over 40 years of industry experience to the firm. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (FCA), a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA), a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia, a Registered Company Auditor, and a Registered Tax Agent.
Before founding Widdup Barilla, Garry spent twelve years with Sydney-based international chartered accountancy firms, including Price Waterhouse Coopers and BDO, where he gained extensive experience across all facets of accounting, taxation, and auditing.
With a wealth of education and expertise, Garry turned down lucrative city partnership opportunities to create his own practice, driven by the desire to establish a firm free from the high overheads typical of city-based practices. In 1990, Garry was joined by Mr. Joseph Barilla FCA, and the two worked together for 19 years before Joe’s untimely passing in 2009.
Marc Bestawros is a Chartered Accountant, Registered Company Auditor, and SMSF Specialist who became a partner at Widdup Barilla in 2018.
With a career spent at top-tier firms, Marc has provided specialist taxation services to businesses ranging from start-ups to listed groups. His expertise spans various industries, including health, entertainment, property development, and retail. As a Registered SMSF Auditor, Marc has a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding the SIS Act and commercial tax laws, alongside the evolving advancements in financial technology.
Marc is known for his energetic, passionate, and professional approach to business and taxation services. Outside of work, he’s busy with an active family life and a thriving passion for baking, where he delights in serving up warm treats from his kitchen.
Leah is a qualified CPA with a Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accountancy) from the University of Wollongong. With over 15 years of experience at Widdup Barilla, her primary focus is on accounting, taxation, and compliance services for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs).
Leah’s expertise and long-standing commitment to SMSF services make her an integral part of the team at Widdup Barilla, where she has built strong relationships with clients while ensuring they remain compliant with the ever-evolving superannuation regulations.
